Questions for Discussion & Application
- What questions do you have about today’s passage?
- Why is it so difficult for people to receive salvation as a gift instead of trying to earn it and make themselves worthy of it?
- Why can we never make ourselves worthy of salvation through our own efforts and works? (See Romans 1:18-3:20.)
- Why is it so essential that the one who trusts in Jesus, believes that He is Lord and risen from the dead? (See I Corinthians 15:19.)
- In verses 9-10, we see an emphasis on our trust in Jesus being in or with the “heart”. What does this mean and why is this significant?
- In verses 11-13, who is able to receive the gift of salvation?
- Since the gift of salvation is able to be experienced by everyone who believes, whether Jew or Gentile, what does this teach us about who we are to proclaim the Gospel to? Are there certain persons or kinds of persons who you find it difficult to offer the gospel to?
