- What questions do you have about today’s passage and message?
- Why was this new generation of Israel not circumcised by their parents in the wilderness? What does this further reveal about this generation that died in the wilderness? How can we different from them?
- What is surprising about the timing of when God commanded Joshua to circumcise Israel?
- How has God’s timing in your own life forced you to trust and rely on the Lord more?
- Why was it so important that the new generation of Israel receive the sign of circumcision and celebrate the Passover before entering the battle with Jericho?

- Israel was instructed to “consecrate” themselves in verse 5. What might this involve (see Exodus 19:14-15)? Why would this be important?
- Moses’ role of leadership was replaced by Joshua. What significant lessons can we glean from this?
- Joshua proclaimed God’s message to Israel that reminded them of God’s presence with them and of God’s promise to give them the land. Why is it so essential that leaders speak the truth of Scripture?
- Before Israel could experience the miracle of crossing the Jordan on dry land, first the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the Lord had to step into the water. What did this make very clear to Israel? Why is this so important?

- Last week we saw the call for Joshua and Israel to be strong and courageous. How does Rahab show such strength and courage?
- What does the courage of Rahab flow from? What does she fear more than the king of Jericho?
- How has the fear of the Lord and the fear of His coming judgement led us to take steps of faith that are similar to Rahab’s?
- In verses 9-11, what things does Rahab profess to be true of the Lord?
- Just as Rahab and her family are given a sign to mark them off for God’s mercy instead of His judgement, what signs have been given to us that mark us off for God’s mercy?
