CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Celebrate Recovery (CR) has become a very successful program in Ozark and the Franklin County area and meets each Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at 408 W. Market in Ozark.

In response to the growing need of a comprehensive recovery program, Celebrate Recovery began in 1991 at Saddleback Church in California under the direction of John Baker. Both the response to the program and the program itself have been extremely effective.

CR is built on a number of platforms: First, it is comprised of eight recovery principles based on the Beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount. Second, it is made up of the Twelve Steps and their original biblical comparisons as used by Alcoholics Anonymous and other anonymous-based groups. A third is the complete Serenity Prayer, in which the individual surrenders control to God and accepts responsibility for their part in their own life story.

That door to healing is opened by sharing personal experiences, strengths, and hopes in a confidential, open atmosphere. By working the steps and applying their biblical principles, the participant will begin to grow spiritually and eventually become free from  hurts, habits, and hang-ups. This freedom creates peace, joy, and–most importantly–a stronger personal relationship with others and our loving and forgiving Higher Power, Jesus Christ.

CR addresses a wide variety of addictions, dependencies and compulsions including alcohol, drugs, eating disorders, sexual addictions, spending compulsions, co-dependency.

Baker writes “The purpose of Saddleback Church's Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the "8 Recovery Principles." This experience allows us to "be changed." By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.”

The cost of materials is free and a weekly dinner will be provided. For more information or to enroll, call 667-3500.
